{"id":22164,"date":"2016-06-22T09:43:45","date_gmt":"2016-06-22T09:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=22164"},"modified":"2016-06-22T09:43:45","modified_gmt":"2016-06-22T09:43:45","slug":"general-hospital-expansion-aided-by-steel-fabrication-software","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/general-hospital-expansion-aided-by-steel-fabrication-software\/","title":{"rendered":"General hospital expansion aided by steel fabrication software"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22158\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/kettering160623.jpg\" alt=\"kettering160623\" width=\"600\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/kettering160623.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/kettering160623-300x149.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Steelwork design and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Fabrication\" target=\"_blank\">fabrication<\/a> for the \u00a34.5M expansion and renovation of Kettering General Hospital is said to have been significantly speeded up with the use of Graitec\u2019s Autodesk Advance Steel software.<\/p>\n<p>Steelwork contractor TSI Structures, working in collaboration with structural engineer BWB, chose the software for its steel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Simple_connections\" target=\"_blank\">connection design<\/a>, detailing and fabrication.<\/p>\n<p>According to TSI Structures Drawing Office Manager Adrian Betts: \u201cThe bi-directional link between Advance Steel and Autodesk Revit \u2013 used by BWB \u2013 made it easier to reuse their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Modelling_and_analysis#Modelling\" target=\"_blank\">design model<\/a> and work more efficiently with their engineers using a BIM workflow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TSI says it used the software\u2019s built-in steel connection design engine (which fully supports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design_codes_and_standards#Eurocode_3_-_Steel_structures\" target=\"_blank\">Eurocode 3<\/a>) to check connections in real time and this ultimately speeded up the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design\" target=\"_blank\">design<\/a> procedure by 20%.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction\" target=\"_blank\">construction<\/a> project included two new obstetrics\/gynecology operating rooms and supporting accommodation within a new extension to the front of an existing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Healthcare_buildings\" target=\"_blank\">hospital<\/a> wing.<\/p>\n<p>Remodelling the hospital\u2019s existing operating rooms was also part of the job\u2019s remit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Steelwork design and fabrication for the \u00a34.5M expansion and renovation of Kettering General Hospital is said to have been significantly speeded up with the use of Graitec\u2019s Autodesk Advance Steel software.
