{"id":21884,"date":"2016-05-12T14:37:02","date_gmt":"2016-05-12T14:37:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=21884"},"modified":"2016-05-12T14:37:02","modified_gmt":"2016-05-12T14:37:02","slug":"steel-construction-bim-charter-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/steel-construction-bim-charter-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"Steel Construction BIM Charter launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21865\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/nBIM1605.jpg\" alt=\"nBIM1605\" width=\"600\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/nBIM1605.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/nBIM1605-300x82.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA) steelwork contractors are now able to demonstrate compliance with Level 2 Building Information Modelling (BIM) with the launch of the Steel Construction BIM Charter.<\/p>\n<p>The UK Government\u2019s requirement for Level 2 BIM on all central government projects means the construction industry wants to know which suppliers are BIM compliant.<\/p>\n<p>The Steel Construction BIM Charter means BCSA Member companies can now be certified against the requirements of both PAS 91:2013 and PAS 1192-2:2013 as outlined below.<\/p>\n<p>Compliance with PAS 91:2013 section 4.2 table 8, and specifically that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The company has the capability of working within a project using a \u2018Common Data Environment\u2019 as described in PAS 1192-2:2013.<\/li>\n<li>The company has a documented policy, systems and procedures to achieve \u2018Level 2 BIM\u2019 maturity as defined by PAS 1192-2:2013.<\/li>\n<li>The company has the capability of developing and delivering or working to (depending upon the role(s)) a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) as described in PAS 1192-2:2013.<\/li>\n<li>The company has arrangements for training employees in BIM related skills and assessment of their capabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Compliance with the supply chain assessment requirements outlined in PAS 1192-2:2013 and specifically defined in sections:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6.4 Suppler BIM assessment form<\/li>\n<li>6.5 Supplier information technology (IT) assessment form<\/li>\n<li>6.6 Supplier resource assessment form<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The certification process requires companies to carry out an online assessment, which is then followed up by an onsite audit.<\/p>\n<p>Certified companies are provided with a comprehensive document summarising the company\u2019s BIM capability, which they can then provide to the supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.org\/directories\/\" target=\"_blank\">BCSA\u2019s online directories<\/a> mean clients and main contractors can see which companies have been assessed against the BIM Charter, with the Charter providing a simple way to prequalify steelwork contractors as BIM compliant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA) steelwork contractors are now able to demonstrate compliance with Level 2 Building Information Modelling (BIM) with the launch of the Steel Construction BIM Charter.
