{"id":21102,"date":"2016-01-06T14:37:23","date_gmt":"2016-01-06T14:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=21102"},"modified":"2016-01-06T16:05:38","modified_gmt":"2016-01-06T16:05:38","slug":"welsh-race-track-gets-go-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/welsh-race-track-gets-go-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"Welsh race track gets green light"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wales160107.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21103\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wales160107.jpg\" alt=\"wales160107\" width=\"600\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wales160107.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/wales160107-300x159.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>Preparatory work is due to start this month on the \u00a3 315M Circuit of Wales racing track near Ebbw Vale.<\/p>\n<p>The project will see 830 acres of land in Blaenau Gwent, South Wales transformed into an international motorsport circuit, technology park and training facility.<\/p>\n<p>The main race track will be 3.5 miles in length and there will be additional smaller circuits for karting, motocross and 4&#215;4.<\/p>\n<p>Motor sports and automotive testing facilities, including a driver training centre and automotive proving ground are also planned.<\/p>\n<p>Scheme promoter, the Heads of the Valley Development Company, received final planning in November and is aiming to start construction proper by March.<\/p>\n<p>Steel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction\" target=\"_blank\">construction<\/a> is expected to play an integral role in the building of the circuit\u2019s main grandstand and other facilities, as well as the structure\u2019s at the 92,000m\u00b2 technology park.<\/p>\n<p>Heads of the Valleys Development Company said the project will create around 6,000 full time jobs and attract 750,000 visitors a year.<\/p>\n<p>Jobs will be in sectors including track stewarding, security, catering, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Retail_buildings\" target=\"_blank\">retail<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Residential_and_mixed-use_buildings#Hotels\" target=\"_blank\">hotels<\/a>, B&amp;Bs and restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>During the construction period around 3,000 jobs will be supported. It is projected that it will provide a \u00a350M injection into the Welsh economy annually.<\/p>\n<p>Backers hope to have the track completed for the circuit to stage the British MotoGP in 2017, before the entire development is completed in 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Preparatory work is due to start this month on the \u00a3 315M Circuit of Wales racing track near Ebbw Vale.
