William Hare partners British Steel

limesst160922Structural steelwork produced in the UK will be used in some of London’s most prestigious new buildings after steelwork contractor William Hare agreed a new partnership with British Steel.

William Hare’s on going developments in the capital currently include working with Skanska on the 40-storey 100 Bishopsgate commercial scheme, and Multiplex’s ‘The Scalpel’ at 52 Lime Street – both of which will include steel manufactured by British Steel.

William Hare CEO David Hodgkiss OBE said: “We are delighted to have agreed our contract with British Steel, ensuring that we continue to supply market-leading products to our customers.

“The construction market can be very demanding and William Hare, and in turn our clients, demand all the materials we use meet the highest specifications.

“It is also pleasing to be able to support UK manufacturing, however the main reason we are using British Steel is because of the quality of the steel they manufacture.”

British Steel was launched on June 1 after it was purchased from Tata Steel by the family investment office Greybull Capital. The steel is made at the company’s Scunthorpe steelworks and the biggest sections are rolled at its Teesside Beam Mill.

British Steel Commercial Director, Peter Hogg, said: “We’re all proud that William Hare selected British Steel to form this type of partnership, it is a great show of confidence in our employees and their capability.

“At British Steel we pride ourselves on delivering the products our customers need, when they need them, and our highly-skilled teams are dedicated to ensuring we not only make world class steel but deliver a world class service.
