Trio of distribution centres signals growing market

mclaren150423Positive signs that the construction of distribution centres is set to increase this year is good news for the steel construction sector.

Representing a large slice of total activity within the steel construction sector, distribution centres are predominantly built with steel frames.

Following hot on the heals of last week’s announcement (See NSC weekly news 16 April) that Billington Structures will supply 5,000t of steel for a mega-warehouse for Next in Doncaster, main contractor McLaren Construction has been awarded a trio of new distribution centre projects by with a combined value of £40M.

They include three separate, individual warehouse developments for IDI Gazeley with two of the projects located at Gazeley’s flagship Magna Park in Milton Keynes and the other at G.Park Daventry.

All three developments will be constructed within a short timescale and will feature two-storey office accommodation, security gatehouse, standard loading docks together with parking spaces for HGV trailers as well as cars, a few of which will have electric charging points.

Managing Director, and McLaren Construction Phil Pringle said: “We are absolutely delighted to be awarded this ‘hat trick’ of development projects for one of our most respected and longest-serving customers, IDI Gazeley. Our extensive experience and expertise within the distribution sector has once again been recognised by IDI Gazeley in the award of these projects.
