Steelwork contractor posts strong orders into 2017 amid improving market

billington160922Billington Holdings, one of the UK’s leading structural steel and construction safety solutions specialists has announced its strongest ever order book with plentiful work into next year.

Interim results for the six months up to 30 June 2016 produced a profit before tax of £1.74M with a 10% increase in revenue to £27M.

CEO Mark Smith (pictured) said: “Billington currently has the longest forward order book, in relation to capacity, in the group’s history, and the strength of this provides the company with confidence going into the second half of the year.

“The group is operating in an increasingly confident and re-emerging market which has enabled growth and expansion.”

He said the industry has witnessed an improving market since 2013 and Billington has capitalised on this by strengthening its forward order book.

The company said continued investment in its group companies and staff training has ensured all divisions have positively contributed to the company’s performance and this is expected to continue as Billington enters into a very busy second half of the year.

Mr Smith added that the company’s steelwork contractor Billington Structures now has three sites across Barnsley and Bristol and has the capability to process over 25,000t of steel per annum.

“Billington Structures has had a solid performance over the first six months of the year and the investment in a new saw/drill line at its Wombwell works in Barnsley has positively contributed to this,” he said.

The business has delivered a number of successful projects including One Bedford Avenue in London, Greenwich Peninsula Energy Centre, Nottingham Leisure Centre, Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre, Wellington Place in Leeds and RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire.
