Steel solutions for Facebook offices

Steelwork contractor Adey Steel has completed the contract to design, detail, manufacture and install the structural steelwork package that supports the concrete frame of the new Facebook offices in central London.

The complex heavyweight structure included two plate girder transfer beams each weighing 22t and a 20t fabricated ‘C’ column that allows the open ground floor lobby area of the offices to remain uninterrupted.

The company said the exacting tolerances involved during installation of these heavy primary steel elements made it an extremely challenging project.

Adey Steel Group Managing Director Andrew Adey said: “It has been a pleasure for our business to be involved in this high profile project. It forms another outstanding example of the scale and quality of complex steelwork we produce as a business.

“It is testament to each of our teams involved, from design and detailing, fabrication and projects to the installation crews, congratulations go to each one of them.”

The Adey Steel Group, which celebrated its 90th anniversary last year, consists of four companies: Adey Steel, Adey SteelShop, Adey Technical and Adey Transport. A recent rebrand saw the company merge its four businesses under one brand, the Adey Steel Group. The new rebrand also saw a new company website as well as new marketing materials.
