Steel frame expansion of Leeds urban quarter

Wellington160825Wates Construction has been appointed by developer MEPC to deliver another new office development at Wellington Place, marking the contractor’s continued role in the creation of Leeds’ new urban quarter.

3 Wellington Place is a steel-framed mixed-use project that forms part of MEPC’s masterplan to deliver high-specification office provision across 22 acres of land and is designed to meet increased demand for commercial space in the city centre.

The appointment sees Wates expand its presence at MEPC’s Wellington Place, which includes the recently completion of 5 and 6 Wellington Place – 6,900m² and 9,660m² of speculative steel-framed office space respectively.

Designed by Sheppard Robson the six-storey Grade A scheme spans a total surface of 12,800m² and hosts a basement car park, retail units on the ground floor and 50 secure cycle racks.

Wates Business Unit Director, Yorkshire and North East, Paul Dodsworth commented: “MEPC’s masterplan to deliver premium office space in Leeds has reached new heights in recent months and 3 Wellington Place is set to further complement this vision, whilst also providing versatile commercial space for both domestic and global businesses.

“To be furthering our role at the scheme is a deserving acknowledgement of our team’s deep understanding of MEPC’s strategy to build upon and subsequently enhance the commercial offering in Leeds.”
