Shoreditch mixed-use scheme to start imminently

A major mixed-use scheme in Shoreditch, east London is expected to kick-off in the next few weeks.

The Blossom Street scheme covers three sites, one fronting Shoreditch High Street, another along Norton Folgate and a third behind Spitalfields Market.

Developer British Land’s vision for Blossom Street is to refurbish, extend and create new buildings; providing new offices, retail and residential space.

The proposals focus on sensitively designed buildings, bringing many vacant or underused buildings in the area back into useful economic use.

The scheme will provide commercial space for a range of business sizes, and new retail premises in keeping with the Spitalfields character, as well as introducing some new residential apartments.

Overall, the development will provide 33,040m² of commercial space, 4,000m² of residential space (40 apartments), 3,550m² of retail space and 1,400m² of new public realm.

AHMM have coordinated the design of the proposals, working with three additional architectural practices to help create a variety of architectural styles.

A specialist landscape architect practice has been working closely with the design team to ensure that the public realm is enhanced for the existing and prospective communities.
