September issue of New Steel Construction out now

The September issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit: www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC can find it at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s cover story is Three Snowhill in Birmingham, which is said to be one of the largest ever speculative commercial schemes outside of London. Featuring some spectacular cantilevers, the building has needed 4,500t of structural steelwork.

Big changes are afoot in Plymouth city centre and one of the major developments is the Drake Circus leisure and retail scheme which will reinvigorate a former bus station site.

Sat on a weathering steel grillage supported on reused marine piles, a steel-framed member’s club is under construction at Heron Quays in east London.

Manchester’s latest commercial development is a 12-storey, column-free London-spec office block at 125 Deansgate. The project has made use of cellular beams throughout for efficient service integration.

Headingley cricket and rugby stadiums are being redeveloped with a unique back-to-back grandstand forming a central part of the works.

Also in this issue, NSC features the fifth in a series of articles celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Structural Steel Design Awards, a Headline Sponsor article from Barrett Steel, a sector focus on structural components, as well as the usual industry news, technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
