Plans submitted for major Glasgow retail scheme

Posted on by in Weekly News

A planning application has been submitted to transform an area next to the River Clyde into a major new waterfront retail, leisure and tourism destination.

The £100M investment plan, submitted by Peel Lifestyle Outlets, consists of a 3,200m² mixed-use development at Glasgow Harbour, bringing in over 2,000 retail and construction jobs and revitalising a key area in the city.

The 74 acre Glasgow Harbour Lifestyle Outlet will include retail space, restaurants and cafes, a waterfront promenade, a new cinema, gym, and family leisure facilities.

Jason Pullen, Peel Lifestyle Outlets’ Managing Director, said: “The initial £100m investment, as well as delivering crucial construction and retail jobs, represents the next step in fulfilling the Glasgow Harbour master plan and we’re excited to bring more life back to Glasgow’s Clydeside.”

It is estimated that the Glasgow Harbour Lifestyle Outlet could generate as much as £45M per year within the local economy once complete.

Further estimates suggest the scheme has the potential to generate up to 5 million additional visits per year, generating further economic benefit for the wider economy.
