Plans revealed for New Brighton promenade scheme

Developer Viking New Brighton has revealed plans for an hotel and apartment scheme on the promenade at New Brighton in Merseyside.

The 100-bedroom hotel, aimed at a four-star operator, and the adjoining 120 apartments, are planned for a site currently occupied by New Palace and Adventureland, which would be demolished to make way for the project, with the attractions moved further along the seafront.

According to architect Paddock Johnson, there have been “positive pre-planning discussions” with Wirral Council, and a planning application is due by May 2020.

The buildings are stepped back from the road and reach up to 11 storeys high, with a third-floor roof garden for residents.

The hotel is planned to help service the neighbouring Floral Pavilion Theatre, which is used as a conference venue. A completion in 2022 is targeted for the hotel.

On the ground floor, the project will have leisure uses, and priority for the space will be given to local businesses already based at the site.
