New business district for Liverpool

Posted on by in Weekly News

Liverpool170323A new Liverpool business district development, providing up to 37,000m² of Grade A office space over three buildings, has been given the go-ahead.

Liverpool City Council has appointed Kier Construction and CTP to begin work on the site, which was formerly occupied by the Exchange Railway Station.

The city council also said that it wants to work with Kier to see how they can collaborate with the new owner of the adjoining seven-acre car park to deliver an additional mixed-use scheme including a hotel, a new car park, leisure uses and up to 2,000 new homes.

It is estimated the two-phase development would be worth £200M and create in excess of 1,800 jobs. The project will also help Liverpool meet its ever-increasing demand for high-spec office space, something which was highlighted in the city’s recent blueprint for growth.

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson said: “I’m delighted to have Kier Property and CTP, who have to their names a fabulous track record, as our partners in this hugely ambitious and potentially game changing development for Liverpool’s business district.

“We know we need more top quality office accommodation in Liverpool and this site is perfect because it is all about location, location, location.”
