Go ahead for major York mixed-use scheme

Developer Palace Capital has been given the go ahead for a major mixed-use scheme in the centre of York.

The project will see the existing Hudson House site at Toft Green redeveloped into a four-block scheme of 127 flats, and offices totalling around 12,300m².

Leeds-based architects Fuse Studios has designed the seven-storey buildings, which will be located close to York Railway Station.

Palace Capital Chief Executive Neil Sinclair said: “Hudson House was part of the Sequel Portfolio which we acquired from Quintain in 2013 and where we already have two other planning approvals.

“We are very excited about the prospects for this site and now we have consent we will be focusing on how best to maximise shareholder value while limiting the risk to our company.”

Andrew Sharp, Head of Businesses at Make It York added: “York is a vibrant and dynamic city and we continue to see strong demand for high quality city centre office accommodation.

“Over the last couple of years, we have seen a significant number of city centre offices lost to residential development. The proposals being put forward by Palace Capital will give a welcome boost to supply of city centre Grade A offices, providing a great opportunity to attract new investment into the city.”
