February issue of New Steel Construction out now

The February issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit: www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

The cover story for this issue is the 225m-long River Witham Bridge, which forms an important part of the Lincoln Eastern Bypass. Cleveland Bridge fabricated, supplied and erected 1,400t of steel for the project that included haunch girders manufactured in weathering steel.

A new town centre for the Yorkshire town of Barnsley is under construction. Known as the Glass Works, the scheme includes a multi-storey car park, retail and restaurant units and a 13-screen cinema.

The previously outdated steel-framed office building at 60 London Wall is being reinvented and refurbished with a complex construction programme, which consists of a partial demolition of the structure, strengthening of existing areas and the addition of new upper floors.

Supported on a series of trusses and mega arches, 21 Moorfields is a new 17-storey commercial building in the City of London that spans over Moorgate underground station as well as the western ticket hall for the Liverpool Street Elizabeth Line station.

Structural steelwork was the framing material of choice for the Royal Shakespeare Company, as it wanted a material that could economically form long clear spans for its new costume workshop.

NSC also features a Sector Focus article on light gauge steel, industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
